Care options

Every kind of senior living, explained plainly.

The right setting depends on health, memory, independence and personality, not just a checklist. We help you understand each option and find the one that fits.

Independent living

Private apartments or cottages with meals, housekeeping, transportation and a full calendar of activities, for seniors who don't need hands-on care.

Often a fit whenYour loved one is mostly independent, but tired of keeping up a house or eating alone.

Assisted living

Apartment-style living with trained staff on hand around the clock to help with bathing, dressing, medications and getting around, plus dining and activities.

Often a fit whenDaily tasks have become harder, but privacy and a social life still matter.

Memory care

Secure, calm residences for people living with Alzheimer's or other dementias, with specially trained staff, structured days and layouts that reduce confusion.

Often a fit whenWandering, confusion or safety worries mean home, or standard assisted living, is no longer enough.

Residential care homes

Licensed homes (RCFEs) in ordinary neighborhoods that care for a small group of residents, often with more one-on-one attention and a family feel.

Often a fit whenSignificant hands-on care is needed, and a quiet, home-like setting would feel better than a large community.

Respite & short-term stays

Furnished stays of a few weeks to a month, for recovery after an illness, a caregiver's break, or a trial run before a longer move.

Often a fit whenA family caregiver needs rest, or you'd like to try community life before committing.

Post-hospital placement

When a hospital or rehab stay ends and home isn't safe yet, we work with discharge planners to find a setting that can follow the care plan.

Often a fit whenA discharge date is set and your family needs options in days, not weeks.

How it works

Guidance, options and peace of mind, in six steps.

The three words on our card are the way we work. One advisor, a clear process, and a family that always knows what comes next.

Phase one Guidance Understand the whole person
  1. 1

    Free consultation

Tell us what's changed. We listen first, to health and mobility, memory, routines, budget, preferred areas and what makes your loved one feel at home.

  2. 2

    Care needs assessment

We meet in person or by video and review medical needs and daily routines, often alongside doctors' notes or discharge papers, to pin down the level of care that truly fits.

Phase two Options Narrow the choices
  1. 3

A short list, not a long one

We match needs, budget and location against communities in the areas you prefer, and explain the tradeoffs of each in care, cost and culture.

  2. 4

    Tours, prepared

We help schedule visits and prepare you with what families don't always know to ask: overnight staffing, how care fees rise, and what happens if needs change.

Phase three Peace of mind See it through
  1. 5

    Decision & move-in

We help you compare agreements, coordinate physician forms and assessments, and plan move-in day so nothing falls through the cracks.

  2. 6

    Checking in after

We follow up after the move to make sure the fit is right, and we're a phone call away if needs change down the road.

Meet Phylicia Smith

Senior Living Referral SpecialistLicensed RCFE Administrator

Phylicia guides families through one of life's hardest decisions with patience and plain answers. She holds an RCFE administrator license, the certification required to run a residential care facility for the elderly, so she knows the rules, the paperwork and the questions that matter when you're comparing care.

When you call A3 Placement, you talk with Phylicia, and she stays with your family from the first conversation to move-in day.

Why A3

Placement is personal. We keep it that way.

Choosing where a parent or spouse will live is one of the biggest decisions a family makes. It deserves more than a search result.

Free to your family

Our fee is paid by the community your family chooses. You'll never receive a bill from us.

A licensed administrator

Phylicia is a licensed RCFE administrator, so she understands the standards residential care is held to.

One advisor, start to finish

The person who takes your first call is the person who checks in after the move. No call centers, no hand-offs.

Every option on the table

Independent living, assisted living, memory care and residential care homes, explained side by side so you can compare with confidence.

Straight answers on cost

We explain monthly rates, care-level fees and move-in costs up front, and point you toward help like long-term care insurance and VA Aid & Attendance benefits.

Honest about fit

If a community isn't right, or if staying home with in-home support is the better answer, we'll tell you.

A local advisor vs. an online directory

Many families start with a search engine and end up sorting through hundreds of listings on their own. Here's what changes when you work with us instead.

Questions families ask

Good questions deserve plain answers.

Don't see yours? Call Phylicia. There's no such thing as a question too small.

Does it really cost nothing?

Yes. A3 Placement is paid a referral fee by the senior living community after a move-in, much like a real estate agent paid by the seller. You'll never receive a bill from us, and the monthly rate you pay the community is the same whether or not you use our service.

What does RCFE mean?

RCFE stands for Residential Care Facility for the Elderly. It's the licensed category that covers most assisted living communities and residential care homes. An RCFE administrator is certified to run one, which is why Phylicia knows what to look for when families compare their options.

How quickly can you help?

Many families call when a decision can't wait, such as an upcoming hospital discharge. Tell us your timeline on the first call, and we'll plan around it. When there's more time, we move at your family's pace.

What's the difference between assisted living and a residential care home?

Both provide help with daily activities and staff around the clock. Assisted living communities are larger, with private apartments, dining rooms and a full activity calendar. Residential care homes are licensed homes in regular neighborhoods caring for a small group of residents, often with more one-on-one attention and sometimes a lower monthly cost.

My parent doesn't want to move. Can you still help?

This is one of the most common things we hear, and it's completely normal. We can talk with your loved one directly, answer their questions and arrange low-pressure visits. Many seniors feel differently after a lunch or an afternoon at a community. Their voice is always part of the decision.

Do you work with hospitals and social workers?

Yes. Discharge planners, case managers and social workers can refer a patient to us directly. We coordinate with the care team so the new setting is ready for the needs listed in the discharge plan.
